“Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve…
You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”

- Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr

For the past eight years, Princeton Academy has honored the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr by coming together as a community to serve. Inspired by Dr. King’s dream and guided by Sacred Heart Goal III (a social awareness which impels to action) and Goal IV (building of community as a Christian value), the MLK Day of Service enables our beloved community to join forces, partner with organizations focused on supporting those in need, raise awareness, and express gratitude.

Dr. King once said that “life's most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” Princeton Academy’s MLK Day of Service turns this “day off” into a “day on” so that we can fulfill our mission and do the work we are called to do. With an open heart, we seek to live this spirit every day and we know that our commitment to the greater good can never be limited to just one day.

Dr. King states that “an individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.” At this year’s MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 15, we will be helping to support local organizations including Operation Gratitude, The Bag Project (through Embrella), HomeFront, Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, SAVE animal shelter, Lala & Mimi’s Pajama Project, and Sandro’s Coat Rack. Thank you to PAPA for leading this transformational event and thank you to everyone in advance for participating in the day.

Dr. King had a dream. Today at our Prayer Service for Peace our boys shared their dreams. As a community, we have a powerful opportunity to realize Dr. King's vision by educating our students to the Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria and by living them each and every day so as to do good in our world. Service is leadership and leadership is service. I am proud of how our young men embody the virtues of the Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria, thriving as examples of Dr. King’s dream. I hope to see you on Monday at this year’s MLK Day of Service.
