On Friday, November 19, the Princeton Academy community gathered for our Thanksgiving Prayer Service organized by Student Liturgy with the help of Director of Community Liturgy Lorna Cole Durish.
The students chose the prayers, songs, and readings, and they wrote the intercessions. Students also carried out many roles in the service including leading in prayer and song. Princeton Academy acknowledged Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne in honor of her feast day and the close of her Bicentennial celebration in the United States and Canada. We honored this pioneer missionary, who came to St. Charles, MO, from France and founded the first free school west of the Mississippi in September 1818. Middle School English Teacher Nathan Weaver shared a homily about the goodness of Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne and how she practiced the virtue of self-acceptance as she accepted her whole self as God created her.
The Kindergarten Bear Cubs performed a "Thank You" song that they wrote for the Thanksgiving Prayer Service. Founding Kindergarten Teacher Suzanne Kazi stated, "I must say that this is the first group of boys that did not include toys in their list, as well as the first group that said they were thankful for the saints, Sacred Heart schools and St. Rose Philippine Duchesne."
A special Sacred Heart Goals Prayer was composed to honor our Princeton Academy community. The prayer was read by Keeper of the Flame Tim Stevens while Middle School students presented Sacred Heart symbols to represent Princeton Academy's commitment to each goal.

Goal 3: Serve
A can of soup that feeds our soul and nourishes us as we serve others
Goal 4: Respect
A Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart Yearbook that highlights the warmth of our welcoming community
Goal 5: Grow
A plant nourished with attention, care, and love prospering and thriving
