In a letter to the community on June 7, 2020, Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart's headmaster and Board of Trustees announced a bold reinvention of its tuition model for the upcoming 2020–21 school year. Below is the full text from the letter:
"Dear Princeton Academy Community,
As we come to the end of an unprecedented and unimaginable academic year, the strength of our diverse, supportive and loving community has been awe-inspiring and we look to the future with courage and confidence. On May 15, 2020, we wrote to let you know that the Board of Trustees and School Leadership Team were proactively engaged in scenario planning for the fall, in order to be well prepared for all three possible education models: on-campus learning, distance learning or a hybrid. Today we communicate with the next installment of our Fall 2020 Re-Entry Plan.
We are mindful of the profound economic impact that this pandemic has had on many of our families and the broader Princeton community. We want to lessen the burden for our families, whose loyalty we are deeply grateful for. At the same time, we believe that now, more than ever, our exceptional learning experience should be made accessible to as many boys as possible. We want to share our mission – to develop young men to be creative, compassionate and courageous leaders of a just society – with more families.
Therefore, Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart is proud to announce a bold reinvention of our tuition model. Effective immediately, the Board has approved a new maximum tuition schedule for the upcoming 2020–21 school year *:
Kindergarten: $18,150 (previously $24,250)
Grades 1-4: $22,150 (previously $29,550)
Grades 5-6: $26,450 (previously $35,250)
Grades 7-8: $32,400 (previously $36,000)
Consistent with our Sacred Heart values, including a deep devotion to equity and access, we reaffirm our commitment to our Individualized Affordable Tuition program, offering grants to qualified families. Now is the time to support our families and grow the Princeton Academy community.
At Princeton Academy, we are going to do everything in our power to safely return to school in the fall. A Re-Entry Task Force composed of school leadership will continue to assess every aspect of the Princeton Academy experience and make decisions based on smart public health practices, best available science and shared peer school re-entry experiences. The physical and emotional health and wellbeing of our students, alumni, families, faculty and staff will always be our top priority.
We are excited to share that Princeton Academy plans to more fully leverage the unique asset of our 50 acres of open space on campus to engage everyday learning in a healthy, outdoor environment, while offering the added benefit of greater flexibility in social distancing. We will also be utilizing technology in new and innovative ways to make hybrid classrooms a reality so as to ensure that every boy will be able to benefit from in-person instruction whether he is on campus or at home. We are dedicated to bringing out the best in boys in every learning environment. Additionally, Princeton Academy will be providing devices for every student in Kindergarten through Grade 8. We are confident that our extensive preparation and flexible scenario planning will enable energetic and effective learning and growth. We look forward to sharing more details throughout the summer.
The context we are living in is dynamic and Princeton Academy vows to be dynamic in response. Rooted in our mission and guided by our vision, Princeton Academy will always place the wellbeing of our young men at the core of our decision-making. Thank you for your confidence, trust and support."
