It is with great honor and joy that we announce the appointment of Zaneta Chambers as Director of the Learning Resource Center at Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart. Zaneta is coming to Princeton Academy from Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C. where she has led as the Learning Support Coordinator for Lower School, taught second grade, and served as the Clerk of the Student Support Team and as co-Clerk of the Lower School Equity, Justice and Community Committee, in addition to other leadership roles.
Zaneta was born and raised in Princeton. A graduate of Princeton Day School, Zaneta holds a bachelor's in Elementary/Special Education from Providence College and a master's in Literacy/Reading Instruction from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Zaneta has over 20 years of experience in education. Prior to her time at Sidwell Friends School, Zaneta taught in K-8 settings in the District of Columbia Public School District, the Teaneck Public School District and Princeton Public Schools. Zaneta has also worked at the Smithsonian National Zoo, planning and implementing educational experiences focused on natural science and conservation and with Educational Testing Services. Her professional certifications include: Elementary Education (K-8); Special Education (K-12); Reading Certification (K-12); and Orton Gillingham. In addition, Zaneta has also worked with Harvard Graduate School of Education's Project Zero and Culturally Responsive Literature Instruction, along with Teachers College Columbia University's Reading and Writing Project.
Zaneta stood out among a diversely talented pool of applicants because of her inspirational, mission-driven leadership experiences, along with her holistic educational philosophy. Zaneta states, "Creating safe and supportive environments that allow students to explore their inner light (voice) and critically evaluate the world around them is at the center of my teaching. PASH's emphasis on 'strengthening boy voice' is one that aligns with my values as an educator and a mother."
As part of Epic Vision Pillar 1 Excellence in Teaching & Learning, our vision at Princeton Academy is to expand the Learning Resource Center so as to provide the best possible learning support for our students while elevating teaching and learning in all domains so that every young man will benefit and grow as a learner.
Zaneta will work with all boys and her reach as Director of the Learning Resource Center will support all of our educators to ensure mission-delivery and academic excellence to all of our young men. To amplify the partnership between parents/guardians and our school on behalf of our boys, Zaneta will bring inclusive models for family education to Princeton Academy that she has implemented successfully at Sidwell Friends. Zaneta has demonstrated leadership in this realm and she looks forward to advancing the vision of Princeton Academy.
Zaneta states, "I am excited to join a community that is grounded in spiritual education and led to nurture creative, compassionate, and courageous boys. My main role as Director of the Learning Resource Center will be to help students, teachers, and families create the best conditions to help our boys thrive. I am blessed to have the opportunity to get to know the school as a teacher and parent, and as a Princeton native, I can't wait to return home!"
