On Tuesday, November 3, fifth-grade students participated in the 4th Annual Princeton Academy Pumpkin Catapult Launch.

The Grade 5 Pumpkin Catapult Project began with a challenge: build a catapult to launch a mini-pumpkin as far as possible. Each group was equipped with the knowledge of Newton's Laws of Motion and potential and kinetic energy as they navigated the engineering process. The boys designed, built, tested, and modified their machines through teamwork and collaboration with their peers. When faced with a challenge, they persevered through adversity and looked at each misstep as a part of the iterative process of learning. The project culminated with a competition, where all four catapults launched over 20 meters!

Middle School Science Teacher and Curriculum Innovator Greson Torchio stated, "We are proud of all their hard work and hope this project inspires them to become future engineers and lifelong learners." He continued, "The boys took the Pumpkin Catapult Launch to new heights. Isaac Newton himself would have been impressed!"
