Admission Tips and Timelines
Call or email to schedule a personal tour
One of the best ways to determine if Princeton Academy has the educational philosophy, programs and culture you seek is to see us in action. Our tour times are flexible and we will work around your schedule as best we can.
Our online application allows you to create an account so that you can chart your progress through each step of the admission process. Click here to apply online. There is a $50.00 application fee. Our priority application deadline is February 1. Applicants who complete the process by the priority deadline will receive decision notification in early March. Princeton Academy accepts applications after the priority deadline and completed applications are then considered on a space available basis. For all candidates, Princeton Academy also accepts the Standard Application Online (SAO) as a common application option. You may access the SAO by clicking on the SAO logo. Please choose only one application type: our online application OR the SAO.
Observations, Conversations and Class Visits
Once you have applied, we will contact you to schedule time for your son to visit classes (for applicants to Grades 2-8), arrange for on-campus evaluations (for applicants to Grades K-5), and for parents/guardians to meet with the appropriate division head. Please note that applicants to Grades 6-8 are required to take the “Middle Level” Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT). You can arrange a date for that test at www.ssat.org. The SSAT help line is (609) 683-4440, and Princeton Academy’s school code is 5899.
Character and personal growth are an integral part of a Princeton Academy education. Grades and test scores just don't tell us the whole story of your child. The Character Skills Snapshot gives us richer holistic information and illuminates areas where Princeton Academy can help your child grow and thrive. All 6-8 applicants to Princeton Academy are strongly recommended to take the Character Skills Snapshot. For students who take the SSAT, there is no charge to take The Snapshot. Once you register to an SSAT, you will have access to The Snapshot.
Teacher Recommendation Forms
We require recommendations from two current teachers (unless the candidate is applying for kindergarten and has not yet attended school). You may send the forms electronically from SchoolAdmin to the appropriate teachers from your application account. Teacher recommendations are confidential to the Admission Committee and will not be discussed in any detail with parents. Teacher recommendations should be requested after November 30.
Transcript or Progress Report
We require a transcript or progress report from your son’s current school. Please request a transcript and ask for any standardized testing taken within the past two years to be included. Upon receiving these documents, please upload them on the admission portal.
Review and Notification
Applications completed by the February 1 priority application deadline receive decision notification on March 10. During the late winter and early spring months, candidates who have completed the admission process will be notified of the Admission Committee decision within two weeks of the completed application.
Please visit the Tuition and Financial Aid page on our website for instructions on how to apply for financial aid. Princeton Academy has a need-based financial aid process, and while we have a finite budget all financial aid applicants who have completed the admission process will be considered. The financial aid application should be completed at the same time as the admission application.
