Spring sports recap - 2010

June 23, 2010

The Princeton Academy baseball team had a solid and exciting season this year. The team got off to a slow start but turned things around by winning the last 4 games of the season. When playing fundamental baseball, the team was able to compete with any other. This team scored the most runs in school history and also hit 4 homeruns during the season. The baseball team will miss its strong group of 8th graders, but the team is built for the future. Coach Clewell and Coach LaSpina enjoyed watching this team come together and grow throughout the season and are looking forward to next season.

The Princeton Academy lacrosse team met with instances of success. The team had a lot of talent and a great deal of raw ability. The team was led by eight 8th graders, however, six of those players left to participate in the Barcelona Exchange Program. As a result of this opportunity, the younger players to fill the spaces left by their absent teammates. They were able to fill the positions adequately. Although there were rough spots along the way, Coach Stevens and Coach Ferrante were happy with the progression of the players. The team showed great improvement over the course of the year. Each player was enthusiastic and kept his spirits high. Overall, the team had a successful season and should continue to develop their talents for years to come.

This year's tennis squad was the largest in our school's history. Each match provided an opportunity to develop our sense of the game and its intricacies. Facing many tough and more advanced opponents was a good learning experience, and everyone worked hard and stayed positive. With so many younger players, we should be able to develop our tennis program and have a great season next year. Coaches Trowbridge and Deisher enjoyed watching the individual progress of many players this season and look forward to further improvement of the team in the future.
