The boys had a wonderful surprise on Monday: a Conge! Mr. Kalkus gathered the entire community for a special celebration when the entire school went off campus to see Disney's Earth in the morning. After returning to campus and finishing lunch, everyone went outside to play games under the direction of Mr. Clewell and Mr. Trautwein. Thanks, Mr. Kalkus!
Chris Brakey chose to do his animal species science report on his thoroughbred mare, Katie. Katie arrived on campus with her trainer on Tuesday and the boys spent time with her, outdoors of course! Chris prepared a report and presented it to his classmates and the boys had fun petting Katie.
The second graders in Ms. Walradt's class shared Pocket Poem Day throughout the school. They visited offices and classrooms reading poems to faculty and students and left "pocket copies" for them to keep.
The fourth grade read poems they had written at Poetry Day this week.
The sixth grade boys crafted walking sticks in the wood shop this week as part of their study of Henry Thoreau.
The boys in JK wore costumes depicting different species of birds today. They have been studying birds that are indigenous to our area and have watched them eat at the bird feeders outside the JK classroom windows.
