BASEBALL
The Princeton Academy baseball team had its most successful season in the history of Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart. The team finished with an 8-1 record, with the only loss coming on the last day of the season. The team was led by a great group of 8th graders, who will be missed next year. Many of the 8th graders have been playing on the team since 5th or 6th grade. The team enjoyed several big victories, but the biggest came against Rutgers Prep. Down 2-1 going in to the bottom of the 7th inning, the team rallied back to score 2 runs to win the game, thanks to an 8th grader knocking in both runs and a 5th grader scoring the winning run. Both Coach Clewell and Coach Geraci are looking forward to next season and seeing who will step up to replace the 8th graders. This 8th grade class will be tough to replace.
LACROSSE
Overall, the lacrosse team had a successful season. The players came together to win victories. Although the team suffered some difficult defeats, the players were never discouraged. Towards the end of the season the team really gelled. They played solid lacrosse both on offense, defense, and in transition play. The team was lead by the strong play of ten eighth graders. Some of those eighth graders have been on the team for all four years of middle school. It will be very difficult to replace them next year. Although the team finished with a 4-5 record, it demonstrated tremendous improvement and sportsmanship over the course of the season. Both Coach Staub and Coach Stevens were thrilled with the play and teamwork, and they are looking forward to next season.
