The 4th grade boys have enjoyed working through various simulations in their economic unit this spring. They were more than ready to take on the challenge of creating, producing, and marketing a real product to sell to the Princeton Academy student body. Next week, the fourth graders will be selling a booklet entitled "Are You Smarter than a Princeton Academy Student?" They collected questions from each grade (JK- 5) that were specific to their curriculum. The booklet sells for one dollar ($1) and will be available for sale in the library, in the fourth grade classrooms, and on Field Day. All profits will be donated to worthy causes. The fourth graders are very excited about their product and think it would make a great Father's Day present. Mr. Kalkus was their first customer!

The second grade recently visited Duke Gardens in Hillsborough as part of their study of plants. They especially enjoyed the Chinese garden.
Senora Valle's Spanish class recently celebrated as they finished reading their first Spanish novel, "Pobre Ana."

Mr. Scherer came in to share his Hollywood experience as a screenwriter with the 8th grade English classes. The students have completed the National Film Institute's curriculium "Making Movies" and are now making their own films. Each 8th grader writes a screenplay, then directs the film. Students also act in, and serve as cinematographers for their classmates' films.
Noted author and Princeton University professor James McPherson recently presented a lecture to 7th and 8th grade students on the Battle at Gettysburg. The classes were particularly interested in the topic as the 7th grade was preparing for their field trip to Gettysburg and 8th grade had gone last year. Professor McPherson donated several books to the school library, as well as maps of the battlefield.
2nd grade First Communicants were honored at a Liturgy on Thursday and the entire class celebrated with a luncheon provided by second grade parents.
On Thursday, Kathleen Conan RSCJ, provinicial of the Society of the Sacred Heart and Madeleine Ortman, executive director of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools attended the Liturgy which celebrated the feast of St. Madeleine Sophie Barat, the foundress of the Religious of the Sacred Heart. They traveled to Princeton to officially welcome Princeton Academy to the Network of Sacred Heart Schools. At the conclusion of the Liturgy they presented the membership plaque to headmaster Olen Kalkus and board chair Robert A. Monsour.
