Winter '08 Sports Update
February 21, 2008
The Princeton Academy Basketball A team enjoyed their best season in Princeton Academy history. They finished with a record of 9-2. Their only two losses were to Rutgers Prep. The team’s season included a school record nine game winning streak. The boys enjoyed impressive victories over local teams, Hun, Pennington, Chapin, Princeton Charter, Lewis, Waldorf, and Princeton Day School. Congratulations to the A team on their highly successful season.
The Princeton Academy Basketball B team had an exciting season this year, compiling a record of 8 wins against 2 losses. This included close victories over Hun, Pennington, Princeton Day School, and Chapin and 2 exciting, down to the wire losses to Rutgers Prep. The B team focuses on developing basic individual skills and learning how to play basketball as a team. Players worked hard all year as was evidenced by their continuous improvement throughout the season. Their scrappy play, aggressive but disciplined defense, and overall hustle was the trademark of the team. Although the team must say goodbye to its graduating 8th graders, next year looks to be an exciting time for Hawks basketball.
The Princeton Academy Wrestling team began its first ever season here at Princeton Academy this past winter with some highs and lows. Many of the boys had never wrestled before and demonstrated that with a lot of hard work, good things can happen. Through leadership from the eighth grade wrestlers and focus in practice, we were able to compete and pull out some individual victories. As the program grows over the next few years, we will be able to develop better team results, and have stronger wrestlers from top to bottom.
