August 30, 2007

On Monday, Princeton Academy faculty began a week-long workshop titled "All Kinds of Minds" that addressed the different ways that individuals learn. Upon completion of the workshop, the school will enter into a year-long "Schools Attuned" program, which is a follow-up to the workshop. Founded by UNC-Chapel Hill professor of Pediatrics Dr. Mel Levine, the training provides teaching skills and techniques that are tailored to the neurodevelopmental needs of students. Further information on the "All Kinds of Minds" program, as well as useful insights and strategies for parents, can be found here.

Work has begun on the refurbishment of the grotto area which is located just west of the Manor House gardens, beyond the back drive. Thanks to the generosity of some Princeton Academy families and friends, there is a new, safer path leading down to the grotto, which features a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Bernadette. Once completed, the grotto can be used for small class prayer services as well as personal meditation.

Old drafty windows in the JK and Kindergarten classrooms were replaced with new, energy-saving windows over summer break.

Work on the narthex is moving along at lightning speed, with painters and electricians finishing up their respective areas. We expect to welcome our new and returning students through the narthex on Tuesday.
