Week in Review 3-9-07
March 09, 2007
The kindergarten classes completed their studies of dinosaurs this week and celebrated with a special "Dinosaur Coffee" for parents and special friends. The boys read their dinosaur stories, which they wrote during the study, to their guests.
Independent Science Projects (ISPs) culminated this week with a fair on Friday. Middle school students displayed their exhibit boards, which detailed the various stages of the project. Parents, students, faculty, and staff were able to speak with the middle school scientists about their projects during the fair.
ISP presentations continued on Monday as each student presented his project to a panel of scientists for review. The panelists, all of whom are scientists working in our local communities, provided feedback to the students on their work.
The 3rd grades presented an adaptation of Charlotte's Web to Lower School students on Monday and to their parents on Tuesday. Working with Youth Stages, a local dramatic arts program for children, the boys prepared the scenery and sets, as well as their costumes. They did a fabulous job bringing this wonderful book to life. Congratulations!
The 2nd grades continued their study of emporer penguins this week by observing Emperor Penguin Dad Day. The boys carried around hard boiled eggs all day to get a sense of what it is like to be an Emporer Penguin caring for an egg.
The newly formed Middle School Environmental Club met this week to make recylcing bins for paper. The bins will be placed throughout the school.
