Middle School Music
The music program utilizes singing, movement, and the use of high-quality string, band, pitched, and unpitched instruments to create fully engaged, independent musicians who can hear, understand, read, write, compose, and improvise music. The Middle School students are given the option to choose either an instrumental (strings or band) or general music track. The instrumental track builds upon the basic concepts learned in Lower School while learning to apply these concepts to the study of one particular instrument and playing in an ensemble. The general music track expands the basic concepts by exploring aspects of music history, music appreciation, theory and ear training, composition, and the music industry today. Students in both tracks have opportunities to perform.
