Help Us Meet the $500,000 Challenge

Dear Friends,
Now that the fall semester is in full swing, we wanted to give you the latest news on the gym, the chapel library, and a significant challenge that is before the Academy right now. Last spring we expressed the hope that the gym would be finished this fall, and that we would be able to move forward on the chapel library during this academic year. The good news is that after a series of delays, we are now confident that we will gain the use of the gym before Christmas. We’ll provide details of the dedication service in the coming weeks.
The plans for the new chapel library are coming along well. In order to limit disruptions during the school day, the decision was made to put off interior construction activity on this space until the summer months. However, we expect that portions of the library’s furnishings can be constructed off site during the winter and spring.
The biggest news by far is the $500,000 challenge we received late last spring. The challenge is made up of significant gifts from five families who have agreed to offer their gifts as an incentive to the rest of the community. This challenge is key to assuring that we have the funds needed to move ahead with the library while keeping the school on a sound financial footing. Each of these families had very different reasons for pledging their support, but they all expressed the hope that their challenge would inspire others to renew their commitment to the Campaign and help us reach our goal. The terms of the challenge require that we raise $500,000 in new gifts and pledges by December 31st, 2006. If we can raise this amount, the resulting $500,000 match will help us reach our $1 million fundraising goal for the chapel library and related infrastructure improvements. Since the challenge was issued we have raised $257,000 in new gifts and pledges, leaving $243,000 still to be raised. (Note that pledge commitments can span multiple years and count toward meeting the challenge.)
We are working diligently to do all that we can to provide our boys with the finest Sacred Heart education possible. We thank you for your strong and ongoing support. Members of the community will reach out to you over the balance of the year to discuss how your gift or pledge can benefit our sons. Your support for the Campaign for Princeton Academy and the vision of Sacred Heart education for boys are why we can continue to plan boldly and with confidence.
