Varsity Field

Multi-Purpose Athletic and Recreation Field

The 300 ÷ X = Princeton Academy refers to our need to raise $300,000 to complete the construction of the athletic fields project. By dividing the $300,000 by a large enough number of donors, we spread the funding load among the community. Project Overview

Princeton Academy has been granted permission by the township to develop playing fields to the east of the main academic buildings for athletic and recreational use. The landscape architecture firm Architerra PC has been our consultant on this project and has designed a large, natural turf field, which can be used for a number of athletic program needs.

Project Details

When do we start? It is likely that we will start to bring heavy machinery on campus before the academic year is over. We will start major site work in the summer months of 2007.

How long will it take? There are 2 to 3 months of site work to do. Tree planting and grass seeding will take place in September for horticultural reasons,. Once the field is seeded in September, it will need to rest undisturbed for approximately one year, meaning that it should rest for the entire 2007-2008 school year.

Are we removing any trees? We will remove 98 trees and replace them with 99 new trees.

Do we need soil? We will be using the soil (and rock) removed for the construction of the gym in the construction of the fields. We will need as much as an additional 1,000 cubic yards of additional soil and topsoil.

What about irrigation? We will irrigate the fields using an engine-powered water wheel.

What will it cost? $400,000 is needed for Varsity Field, including the design, construction, and other related costs to complete the project. So far a generous donor has provided a gift which resulted in the fields being called "Varsity Field". That leaves $300,000 left to raise to complete the project.
