Frequently Asked Questions
What is your relationship to Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart?
Princeton Academy, like Stuart, is rooted in the 200-year-old Sacred Heart tradition. While the two schools have separate Boards, budgets and administrations we do share families. About 30% of our students have a sibling attending Stuart.
What kind of athletic program do you have?
Currently we offer soccer and cross-country in the fall, basketball in the winter and lacrosse and tennis in the spring. Middle School boys are eligible to participate on a team sport beginning in 5th grade. All of our teams compete against local independent schools.
Are you accredited?
Yes. We are accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
Do you have a school uniform?
Yes, we do. Our uniform is very practical. Khaki pants, polo shirts and sweaters. For details on our uniform requirements, click here.
Do you have to be Catholic to attend Princeton Academy?
No. Princeton Academy welcomes boys from a variety of faith traditions. About 50% of our families are Catholic.
How often are chapel/mass services conducted at Princeton Academy?
On average about eight times during the school year. These days fall primarily on the Holy days of obligation as observed by the Catholic church.
Does your religion program satisfy my son's religious education requirements in advance of his First Communion and Confirmation?
Our religious education classes satisfy the requirements for celebrating First Communion (typically in the second grade). The boys celebrate this tradition at their local parish. Traditionally, religious preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation takes place in local parishes. We cooperate with local parishes in communicating what religious education our boys are receiving.
Is financial aid available?
Yes. When the school was founded, the Board of Trustees recognized the importance of an economically and socially diverse community. For more information, click here.
Do you have a computer lab?
In the summer of 2002, we installed a wireless computer network. We have 2 mobile laptop labs, one each for the Lower and Middle Schools. Each mobile lab contains 11 Apple iBook laptops. This enables teachers to bring the "computer lab" into their rooms to enhance the subject matter of the current lesson. Thus, the computer is used as a tool of the curriculum rather than becoming the curriculum. All Lower School teachers have a computer in their classrooms. Not only do the students use them, but with email, teachers and parents enjoy enhanced communication.
During the 2004-05 school year, through the generosity of the Charles Edison foundation, we have purchased and deployed a third mobile laptop lab that includes 15 Apple iBook computers, a laser printer and projector.
Where do your graduates go to high school?
Princeton Academy firmly believes that the most important factor to consider when selecting a high school is the fit between the student and the school. Consequently, our placement process is built upon the premise that it is just as important to know oneself as it is to know about potential high schools. We are fortunate to have many exceptional high schools in our area and our students have been fortunate to have been accepted to many of their first choices. Recent graduates have been accepted to schools such as The Lawrenceville School, The Peddie School, Notre Dame High School, The Hun School, Rutgers Preparatory School, The George School, The Pennington School, and Delbarton School. Is busing available?
Yes. Each year, as our school grows, we file more transportation forms to the local municipalities and each year more busses are picking up and dropping off our students.
