A Historic Site for Our School

Princeton Academy is located on an expansive 43-acre site approximately 3 miles from downtown Princeton. The site contains natural meadows, mature trees, a grotto, formal gardens and three major buildings: the Manor House, the Academic Building and the Headmaster’s house (formerly the Caretaker's Cottage).

Rolf W. Bauhan, one of Princeton's most prolific architects, designed the 22-room Manor House and caretaker's House. The first floor interiors of the Manor House include elaborately carved paneling, stained glass windows and plasterwork, featuring a variety of literary and biblical themes as well as crests of the Ivy League universities. Today, the Manor House serves the school as a place for our admissions office, special events and meetings.

In 1950, the site was acquired by the Marianites of Holy Cross, who called it Our Lady of Princeton. The sisters built a 2-story stone building adjacent to the Manor House to serve as their novitiate. In 1961, a 3-story stone building was constructed adjacent to the novitiate. This building housed classrooms for a junior college, offices and dormitory rooms. A large chapel was built between the classroom and dormitory sections. Today, these three buildings combine to serve as the Academic Building for Princeton Academy.
