On Tuesday, September 5, Princeton Academy welcomed new and returning families for Orientation Day. The following day, students returned for the first official day of school. Students in LS and MS were welcomed with our traditional Morning Handshake. Teachers enthusiastically helped to introduce and acquaint the boys with their new grade. Smiling faces, boundless energy and plenty of HAWK spirit filled the hallways.
The newly renovated lunchroom, now Hawk Hall, was unveiled to parents and students to much fanfare. Thanks to the generosity of our community during the 2017 Superhero Gala, we have transformed this space into a dynamic, multipurpose hall for our boys.
The first days of school were also filled with many meaningful traditions. Grades 1-7 supported and honored their eighth grade brothers in the annual Opening Day Kettle Up: Grade 8 Tie Ceremony. Eighth graders shook hands with their peers and received their Princeton Academy ties which they will wear with pride for secondary school interviews and Graduation. Headmaster Rik Dugan emphasized the importance of role modeling and stated, "We are ready to soar with heart, gentlemen... Here's to a new year and it will be one of the best yet!"
The MS also celebrated its first ever Goal IV Day in honor of Sacred Heart Goal IV, the building of community as a Christian value on Wednesday, September 6. In true Hogwarts fashion, Morning Assembly looked like it could have taken place in the Great Hall with Professor McGonagall and the Sorting Hat - new MS students were "sorted" into their "houses" according to our Blue Green Tradition. The Blue team and Green team work all year to gain points for their "houses" and on Wednesday, the teams participated in challenging leadership and community-building exercises utilizing the entire campus including the Low Ropes Course.
Welcome back to all... Enjoy back-to-school pictures here!
