One of the most important decisions parents make is where to send their child for school. Whether it’s an introduction to structure and socializing in a preschool or a switch from public to private in middle school, the decision takes plenty of time and thought to make the best choice for the child.
At Princeton Academy, we guide our students through a thorough and introspective process to give them confidence in choosing the high schools which are the right fit for them. We begin in the spring of 7th grade with browsing school options and by the 8th grade year, students receive 1-on-1 consulting and assistance with the Director of High School Placement, Matt Trowbridge, who helps them finalize their applications and decisions.
As a teacher and coach for many years, Mr. Trowbridge brings a myriad of relatable skills to his role. Here he offers 5 tips to parents and students on surviving and thriving during the high school application process:
While it can be scary for parents, let your child guide the process. Since most families don’t go through this process until it’s time to look at colleges, this can be a rewarding process for kids to evaluate their expectations from a school and really look at how they learn best.
