Sacred Heart schools are part of a Catholic educational tradition that reaches back over 200 years, with a mission to educate children to become leaders of a just society.
As a Sacred Heart school, Princeton Academy provides a faith-based foundation from which to teach the whole boy: body, mind, and spirit. We are not a parish or parochial school. In fact, about half of the families whose boys attend Princeton Academy come from other religious traditions. Our sister school is the well known Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart.
Please explore the 5 Sacred Heart Goals in greater depth below. Then come visit Princeton Academy to see how these values are manifested in everyday learning.
Sacred Heart Goals:
A personal and active faith in God: As a Sacred Heart school, Princeton Academy helps boys explore their relationship to God, to self, to others, and all creation. While our own traditions are centered specifically in Catholic ideals of compassion, forgiveness, and generosity, we teach acceptance and respect for all the religions of the world.
A deep respect for intellectual values: We challenge boys with a vigorous education that hones critical thinking and inspires a life-long love of learning, while celebrating and developing creativity and aesthetic awareness. We recognize that everyone learns in different ways and have adopted flexible approaches to teach to each boy's strengths.
A social awareness which impels to action: A Sacred Heart Education prepares and inspires students to be active, informed, and responsible citizens in our multicultural world. Our boys engage in direct service and advocacy locally and gain the ability to analyze and reflect on the values of society. They learn to act for justice on a national and global level as stewards of the earth, its people, and resources. and to act for justice on a national and global level, as stewards of the earth, its people and resources.
The building of community as a Christian value: At Princeton Academy, boys learn in a safe and welcoming environment where each person is valued, cared for and respected. Teachers and staff actively model principles of nonviolence, conflict resolution and peacemaking, and teach the skills boys need to achieve clear, direct, and open communication.
Personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom: As a Sacred Heart institution, we actively promote self-discipline, responsible decision-making, and accountability. We help boys develop self-confidence as they develop their gifts and work with their limitations; we nurture leadership in its many forms. All members of the school community take personal responsibility for balance in their lives and for their health and well-being.
