Music Program

The school’s Music Program takes a hands-on approach to music learning through music literacy, theory, performance and composition. All grades have music twice a week with 30-minute classes for Lower School students and 40-minute classes for Middle School students.

There are three main tracks offered in the Music Program: band, strings and general music. The string track begins as an optional afterschool class in Second Grade and then as a formal curricular track in Fourth Grade. The band track begins in Fifth Grade.

The School presents regular performances throughout the school year as a culmination and celebration of its individual and collaborative learning processes. Highlights include the Christmas Program, the Middle School Evenings of the Arts, the Lower School Concert, Grandparents’ Day, the Lower School Opus Avenue performance series and Prize Day.

In addition to the daily school music curriculum, there are extracurricular offerings such as a choir for Fifth through Eighth Grade students, which performs a fully staged musical every winter. Students can also participate in the music liturgy team where cantors sing and instrumentalists play for prayer services and liturgies.
